I’ve Application ver: CRM 8.80.01.000 & Tools ver: 8.45.08. I’m using Sendmail function to send an email, through an application engine. But it is not working.

When I run it in debug mode, the Sendmail function’s return value is 3.
Then I tried this function on a button click. I wrote the following code to run it
SendMail (0, “jg@yahoo.com”, “”, “”, “subject”, “text”);

But it shows me the following error:
Failed to connect to the SMTP server at 10.20.105.241:25 (80,1)
A connection with the specified SMTP server was not established. The SMTP service on the specified host may not be available.

However, if I use the Notification component to send an email, the email is fired without showing me any error.

Probable reasons which can cause this problem:

a) The application engine is executing on a server via process scheduler. For this server please check the psprcs.cfg file. It should have an entry for SMTP. As you are getting the error

Failed to connect to the SMTP server at 10.20.105.241:25 (80,1)
A connection with the specified SMTP server was not established. The SMTP service on the specified host may not be available.


Implies that there exists this entry in the file. Now from the command prompt on the server try connecting to the SMTP server using TELNET to the port 25.

You may be failing during this connection. Please talk to the networking team to get the required connection set which should resolve the issue for AE send mail.

b) On button click please check if you have multiple app-servers for this environment. If so please check if the entries are there in the corresponding configuration file (psappsrv.cfg).
