Hi,

Can we create a View in App Designer, which accesses tables from another link server?
eg: select EMPLID from [psserv6].[HRUAT].dbo.PS_JOB
Also I have an uppercase problem with the following View.

%NoUppercase
SELECT EMPLID
, GRADE
FROM [HRSTAG].dbo.PS_JOB

the owner “dbo” should be in lowercase only.
I get the following SQL error on build:

SQL error. Stmt #: 2675 Error Position: 0 Return: 8601 – [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Line 1: Incorrect syntax near ‘NOUPPERCASE’.
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Statement(s) could not be prepared. (SQLSTATE 37000) 8180
CREATE VIEW PS_Q_DB_TEST (EMPLID, GRADE) AS NOUPPERCASE SELECT EMPLID , GRADE FROM [HRSTAG].dbo.PS_JOB

When I dont use %NoUpperCase, it automatically casts as “.DBO.”(so gives an invalid object error)

I am using PT 8.42 version.

Please suggest a solution.

Thanks,
Rama Naidu.

Thanks for posting your question!

§ Don’t build the view from Application designer, instead generate SQL from Application designer and explicitly run it in the SQL editor. From SQL Editor create view and SQL Server will verify the syntax too.

§ Alternatively consider using SYNONYM
